Welcome to North Knoxville

Sprawling North Knoxville is an up-and-coming district where long-standing Southern eateries mix with hip brewpubs, bakeries, and cafes. The small Old North Knoxville area has shady streets lined with mansions from the late-19th and early-20th centuries in a range of styles from Queen Anne to Craftsman.  Expanding outside of "North Knoxville" you will find other neighborhoods considered in the North part of the City of Knoxville limits.

Neighborhoods in North Knoxville may include Fourth & Grill, Lincoln Park, Fountain City, Pleasant Ridge.   Just north outside the city limits is Halls/Crossroads and Powell.  Each area has a unique offering but offer you the conveniences of being close to downtown Knoxville.  Collectively, this whole area is known generally as North Knoxville (or NoKno).

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

North Knoxville is close to both Downtown Knoxville and Fountain City.  Nearby big shopping retailers include Walmart and Home Depot, Target, and Lowe's.  You'll love all of the dining options just minutes from your doorstep.  If you want Knoxville’s version southern fried chicken diner style, look no further than the iconic Jackie’s Dream off Woodland Avenue.  If pizza is more your fare, A Dopo offers amazing wood fired pizzas that specializes in sourdough Neapolitan style pies for dinner options.

 

North Knoxville is known for a great local beer scene and is home to over a quarter of the breweries on Knoxville’s Ale Trail.  Many are walking distance from each other in the “Uptown North” area just north of downtown/Old City.  If you like fruity and sour beers, check out Xül, that was once a car dealership display room; or for a unique grungy 60s vibe in the same building check out Geezers. Crafty Bastard is just down the road and offers a unique experimental options that is pet friendly, or look into Next Level, which is on the corner of Broadway and Central with a great selection of NEIPAs.  The list goes on and on!

Fountain City is another neighborhood in northern Knoxville and shares two zip codes, 37918 and 37912. Only 6 miles from downtown it has a cute downtown and lots of food like the iconic Inskip Grill, and entertainment options including the Fountain City Arts Center.

 

Things to Do

In North Knoxville you will find lots of parks and outdoor activities.  Sharp’s Ridge Veteran’s Memorial Park is a hiking and mountain biking favorite that offer fabulous views of downtown Knoxville!  Smaller neighborhood parks include Old North Knoxville Park, Fourth and Gill Park, and Edgewood Park; and the First Creek Greenway itself meanders through Old North Knoxville. 

 

Victor Ashe Park is located in North Knoxville and offers over 115 acres of land including picnic areas, playgrounds, soccer fields, horseshoe, disc golf, sand volleyball and more.  People and dogs equally love this park! Runners and walkers love the paved and natural surface trails.  Dogwood Park in Victor Ashe Park allows dogs to roam off leash. Dogwood Park is completely fenced, and features a puppy playground, which includes an inclined hill, a tunnel, a puppy jump, and even a water fountain made for dogs.
